It is a small town of more than 15,000 residents.<br \/>\nIt is a charming environment in which to receive a U.S. education. There is a rich, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tnvacation.com\/east-tennessee\/greeneville\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historical heritage,<\/a><br \/>\nhere, as well as a scenic location near the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/grsm\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Great Smoky Mountains National Park.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Traveling by car, Greeneville is approximately four hours from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitmusiccity.com\/visitors\/tripplanning\/visitorcenter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nashville, TN,<\/a><br \/>\nthe capital of the state of Tennessee. Nashville is the \u201chome of country music,\u201d the National Football League\u2019s Tennessee Titans, the National Hockey League\u2019s Nashville Predators, along with many historical sites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitknoxville.com\/things-to-do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Knoxville, TN<\/a> is one hour away, by car. It is a city busy with sports and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tnvacation.com\/local\/jonesborough-jonesborough-historic-district-and-visitors-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jonesborough, TN<\/a> is the oldest city in the state. It is approximately 20 minutes from Tusculum.<\/p>\n<p>If you have time for longer trips, Washington, DC is six and one-half hours away, by automobile. Atlanta, GA is four hours away. All of these, and more, can be reached via the Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) or Knoxville\u2019s McGhee-Tyson Airport (TYS).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 22px; line-height: 34px;\">BECOMING A TUSCULUM STUDENT &#8211; STEP BY STEP<\/h4>\n<p>International students are expected to follow the general <a href=\"https:\/\/home.tusculum.edu\/apply\/admission-policies\/\">admission policies.<\/a> Additional information is listed below, for your convenience. In order to remain enrolled in classes, please complete the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/home.tusculum.edu\/apply\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Health-Insurance-Waiver-Form-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health Insurance Waiver Form<\/a> and email to the Office of Admission at <a href=\"mailto:admission@tusculum.edu\">admission@tusculum.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 22px; line-height: 34px;\">ADVANCED PLACEMENT CREDIT<\/h4>\n<p>Tusculum University participates in the AP, CLEP and the DSST Programs. These programs allow a student to receive course credit without participating in the course by successfully completing a standardized examination. Only official scores coming from an authorized testing center will be evaluated. Credit for exams appearing on transcripts from other colleges will not be evaluated. A maximum of 18 semester hours of credit earned through these examinations may be applied by undergraduate students to the total number of semester hours required for graduation.<\/p>\n<p>Tusculum University grants credit for satisfactory scores made on AP, CLEP and DSST exams providing the following have been met:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The student has received permission to take the exam from the Registrar (CLEP and DSST only).<\/li>\n<li>The student must pass with the minimum score determined by the Tusculum University faculty for the AP and the American Council on Education (ACE) for CLEP and DSST.<\/li>\n<li>Credit will be received as \u201cpass,\u201d that is, no hours attempted or quality points will be computed in the examinee\u2019s quality point average.<\/li>\n<li>Unsatisfactory scores will not become a part of the student\u2019s record.<\/li>\n<li>The number of semester hours granted will be determined by the scope of the material measured, as recommended by the Council on College-Level Examination (CLEP and DSST).<\/li>\n<li>AP, CLEP and DSST credit may not be acceptable for Pre-Professional and Education majors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 22px; line-height: 34px;\">COST OF ATTENDANCE<\/h4>\n<p>The Cost of Attendance is provided as a <em>guide<\/em> when estimating the costs of programs at Tusculum. These awards are based on academic progress and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>There may be additional scholarship opportunities from outside sources. One such source is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastweb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FastWeb.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 22px; line-height: 34px;\">DEGREE REQUIREMENTS<\/h4>\n<p>For details on undergraduate degrees, click <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.tusculum.edu\/content.php?catoid=1&amp;navoid=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 22px; line-height: 34px;\">ARRIVING\/RESIDING IN THE U.S.<\/h4>\n<p>Prospective and current international students are responsible for staying informed of the United States Department of Homeland Security and regulations<br \/>\nfor the International Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). It is your responsibility to obtain your visa, file your I-901 form and<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmjfee.com\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pay the mandatory SEVIS fee,<\/a> and make any necessary travel arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Students admitted to study in the U.S. on an F-1 visa must attend Tusculum on a full-time basis to remain in good status. International students may not engage in unauthorized employment.<\/p>\n<p>Within one week of the start of class, students must submit proof of health insurance coverage (see above).<\/p>\n<p>When arriving by air, students should fly into Knoxville\u2019s McGhee-Tyson Airport (TYS) or the Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI).<br \/>\n<em><strong>Prior to scheduling your flight,<\/strong><\/em> you should check with the Office of Admissions. Tusculum will provide transportation from the airport to our campus. We will have two scheduled pick-ups two days prior to the beginning of class. If you arrive at a different time, you must make your own travel arrangements.<\/p>\n<div class=\"alert alert-success\">\n<p>When arriving by auto, you can use the university address for GPS assistance:<br \/>\n<strong>60 Shiloh Road, Greeneville, Tennessee 37743.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>All students are required to live in on-campus housing and have a meal plan.<br \/>\nWhen you arrive on campus, you should sign up for <a href=\"http:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/pr\/inclement-weather-policy\/pioneer-alert-account-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pioneer Alerts.<\/a><br \/>\nThis is a system that allows Tusculum to notify you of emergencies, events, and weather-related schedule changes. Each student is responsible for providing bed linens, towel, and washcloth. These items may be brought from home, purchased locally in Greeneville, or purchase a residence hall starter pack from the Tusculum Bookstore.
