Register for a one-of-a-kind guest lecture!

Tusculum University would like to extend a special opportunity to connect with high schools in the region by hosting an interesting and informative lecture for you and your students! The academic deans and faculty of the university are eager to talk about topics of relevance and importance within our society and establish a network with you and your students. In order to maintain best safety practices during the pandemic, our deans and faculty will present to your classroom virtually. After filling out the registration form below and choosing topics you would like to have presented to your students, a Tusculum Admission representative will reach out to you to discuss scheduling and set-up.

  • Careers in Veterinary Medicine – Want to be a veterinarian? Learn about all the amazing and unique careers in this profession. Examples include zoo and aquarium medicine, public health, museum veterinarians, and many more!
  • Why Are Beluga Whales Some of the Most “Polluted” Animals on the Planet? – Beluga whales live in some of the most pristine and isolated areas of the planet. So, why do they have high levels of harmful chemicals found in their bodies? How do those chemicals get there?
  • Mysteries of the Immune System; How Does My Immune System Work? – Ever wonder how your immune system helps you to fight off disease? How a vaccine works to protect you? And what happens if your immune system fails?
  • Zoonoses: Diseases That Are Shared Between Humans and Other Animals – Humans and our animal friends share close relationships and many, many diseases. What are some common diseases that we share? How does our changing environment contribute to this problem?

  • Restaurant/Resort Industry – This presentation can be tailored to fit to the instructors liking. It can include components such as: Groupon, revenue management, time studies, operations management, tipping theory and the impact of the pandemic on the industry.
  • Organizational Theory
  • Organizational Behavior – 1) We all live in organizations whenever two or more people meet whether economic, religious, or simply family; we all therefore need to know how to function within organizations. 2) Values shape attitudes and behaviors within any organization; successful organizations strive for shared values in the development of organizational culture, 4 culture types: clan, adhocracy, market, hierarchy. 3) An example of conflict resolution (clip from Proposal).
  • Organizational Leadership – Definitions of Leadership, Leadership Traits & Skills, Leadership VS Management: Are you a leader? Are you a manager? Both are necessary but involve different skill sets
  • Management
  • Organizational Analysis – This presentation will hit on aspects of organizational behavior, leadership and theory.
  • Entrepreneurship – Introduction, entrepreneurship definition and famous entrepreneurs. What it takes to be an entrepreneur (entrepreneurial mindset) and how to be an entrepreneur in high school/college.
  • Digital Marketing – Living, working, and interacting in the 21st century revolves around the Internet and mobile devices. We get our news, weather, entertainment, and interactions with others from our portable devices. We understand this as users and consumers of the technology and content, but how does this impact the future of business management and marketing? This presentation will focus on the evolution and growing importance of digital marketing. It will outline a few basic historic organizations, examine current approaches, and discuss the future of marketing online. Online shopping trends will be discussed, with some thoughts about what will be needed to prepare for working in this environment.
  • Financial Literacy – Budgeting: Starting with your paycheck, develop a 2-week repeating plan for food, housing, transportation, entertainment, savings. Insurance: Health, auto, and renter.
  • Taxation – Providing a W2, walk through a 1040, How you can make a living as a tax preparer.
